One of the most common problems during cold weather spells is dead batteries. With a little preventative maintenance on your part you can assure yourself that your vehicle is ready for winter.

Colder temperatures thicken your engine oil making it harder for your engine to turn. A cold engine needs peak power to start. So, while your cars battery may have started your car just fine during the Summer months you might be having issues while the weather is cold.

In order to assure that you are not left stranded with a car that won’t start it’s important to check your battery life in your vehicle. Our techs will perform an inspection on your vehicle’s battery to check for charge level, battery casing cracks, leaks or other damage. They will also check your cables and battery posts for corrosion and make sure they are properly secured.

Battery LifeIf your car battery is more than three years old our technicians may also perform a cold cranking power test to measure the amount of amps (power) the battery is able to produce while maintaining voltage. A car battery can lose 30 50 percent of its power when the temperature drops below freezing. If your car’s battery is nearing the end of its life and not producing proper power levels we are to install a new battery in your vehicle.
